Ok, I'm a little slow to the self-photo studios hype... These Korea inspired self-photo studios by Self Photo Studio have been in Singapore for some time now. I've already lost count of how many times my sister went for such photo sessions with her friends, and I finally gave it a try with my hubby and baby K at Photoism!
So what are these self photo studios? For the 90s babies, they are like a levelled up version of neoprints! In short, it's a private space for you to take your own selfie or wefie photos and select the photos you took prior to printing. But with these self-photo studios, you have a room space that's larger and the photos taken are of high quality under professional lighting! So it's perfect for those who are shy infront of photographers yet still want to have a "professional" photoshoot.
Each of these private photo rooms are designed with different concepts, you can choose to take with different backdrop colours, have a neon theme set up or have the photos taken in black and white. They also have a variety of props and furnitures available for your use. You can take all kinds of photos there, be it family group photos, solo corporate headshot for LinkedIn, maternity photo, bff group photos, couple photos, graduation photos or even plan for a proposal to take place during the shoot!
We took some family photos at Photoism and I also took some profile shots for my LinkedIn. Anyway, if you are wondering why baby K is not facing the camera in the photos we shared here, it's because we have a no social media policy for him. That's also the reason why I don't post photos that shows his face on my Instagram. We do have lots of cute shots of him from the photoshoot.
It's really easy to take your own photos in the self-photo studio room - all you need to do is to press a button on the wireless clicker, even baby K could do it! Don't underestimate a 20 mins photo session btw, my sis and her friends were able to take 80 to 100+ photos each time, and they always top up for full digital returns. Their tip? Just keep clicking non-stop, you'll have lots of cute candid shots too!
The branch we visited is Photoism, located at Tampines One. It's one of the studios under Self Photo Studio's brand of 7 studios islandwide. Btw, Photoism is pet-friendly, so you can bring your pets for a photo too, and they have a space for art-jamming too!

Packages are from $30 for a 20mins photo session for 2 pax, top-up $15 for every additional pax/pet, and full digital photos can be purchased at a top-up of $30. Also, here's a little tip for you - search for pose ideas before visiting so you can save the time needed to think of the next pose and maximise the 20mins photo shoot!
