Katelyn's Zenyum Experience: About Zenyum and 2-Weeks Review

Sunday 30 December 2018

My wedding is 3 months away and I'm finally doing something to fix my teeth! Many of my friends commented that my teeth are straight and that there was no need to straighten them. But... there's this tooth that bothers me cause it's the only one in the upper row that is not aligned and I want to get it fixed before my wedding! Also, my lower teeth are rather messy, they are hidden when I smile so not many people knew. So I'm currently undergoing Zenyum Invisible Braces to straighten my teeth and I will be recording the entire journey on this blog. For a start, here's why I went with Zenyum instead of other invisible aligner brands.

1. Price
Zenyum has a first consultation cost that's between $120 to $160 (depending on the location of the partner clinic) and the treatment costs $2,200 nett excluding post-treatment retainers. I went to another clinic for a consultation of Zenyum's competitor invisible aligners and was quoted a range of $5,500 to $6,500 for the same treatment (they couldn't even give me a fixed price before I commit to the treatment). Zenyum's price was a major draw for me cause I like how it is fixed and it is really affordable. I had plans to take up the Zenyum treatment before they offered the collaboration.

2. Suitability
I'm suitable for both Zenyum and Invisalign, so naturally I would go for the one that is more affordable. Zenyum is unable to shift your molars and cannot correct bite issues, it focuses on the aesthetic corrections of the front teeth. Hence they all have a consultation to check your bite to determine your suitability. Also, I was advised by both dentists to shave my teeth to create some space so I don't have to pluck my molars. I will share more about this later.

3. Convenience
I very busy with all my wedding planning now and I like how Zenyum is very digitalized and convenient. Pre-checks are done using photos to determine if you are suitable. What's more? Zenyum has an app to send you auto reminders to change your aligners and you can also use it to chat with your dentist and send photos for a virtual review. Very convenient right?

Now on to my review about Zenyum's procedure and my 2-weeks experience with Zenyum!

So far the Zenyum experience from customer service to dental appointments and the Zenyum Invisible Braces have been good! Their customer service officers are prompt in their replies and follow ups and I got my Zenyum Invisible Braces set in a month. The dentist is good and I didn't encounter any discomfort or post Interproximal Reduction (IPR) procedure sensitivity. IPR procedure is usually done to correct crowding, or reshape the contact area between neighboring teeth, by "shaving" the teeth. I did the procedure to correct overcrowding so I don't need to remove my molars!

The Zenyum Invisible Braces are very easy to wear and the treatment plan is easy to follow! All you need to do is to change your braces every 5 days (or per planned) and the braces are packed in Ziploc bags and colour tagged so you know which to use next. Similar to other braces in the market, each time you tighten your braces (in this case, change to a new set of invisible braces), you will feel slight tightness and feel a little uncomfortable in your teeth, but it usually goes a way after a day.

I love how the Zenyum Invisible Braces are really invisible even up close. So many people who asked to see my teeth couldn't see the braces at all. There's no need to worry if you would look different in it or if there's a need to remove them for photos. The invisible braces didn't help me lose weight though, I thought I would be too lazy to remove them to eat but I was wrong hahas. Even though it's the festive season and I've been dining out more often, it's not that troublesome to be on the treatment as they are easy to remove and wear back. Most importantly, it's affordable compared to other options in the market and convenient! P.S I'm wearing the aligners in the below photo!

These are my thoughts after wearing the Zenyum Invisible Braces for 2 weeks and I will share more updates (including before and after photos) thoughout this treatment. If you are keen, you may submit your interest for Zenyum Invisible Braces online and share the promo code "Katelyn50" (to enjoy $50 off your aligners) when their customer service officers contact you for more info to determine your suitability. Happy Holidays!

  1. Hi hi. Did you had to pay the full $2,200 upfront or is it by installment?

    1. Hi Syha, I'm actually collaborating with them so there wasn't any payment involved. However, Zenyum offers both one-time payment and instalments over an 8-week timeframe.

Regardless of which method you choose, you will still get all the aligners needed for your treatment up front, making it convenient to plan ahead in case you travel. And if you are keen, you can use my Zenyum promo code Katelyn50 in your first email interaction with them to enjoy $50 off your aligners! :)

One look and it's hard to not notice that your teeth aren't straight.
It's a good step getting your teeth fixed! and even better that it's sponsored! You're so lucky!

But thankfully Zenyum is a much affordable option compared to Invisalign! Thank you so much for your post, hopefully it works just as well! :)

    1. Hello, yes it's very obvious to me too but some of them only see the two bunny teeth and think there is no point spending over $5000 to fix them (that's before Zenyum was available). Also, I think it is more obvious in certain photo angles hahas.

No prob, always happy to share reviews. Zenyum is indeed a much more affordable option and I'm looking forward to having straighter teeth at the end of the treatment! :)

    2. Its great to know that there are affordable options, are there any compromises I need to be aware of. It would be helpful if you can also list down the trade-offs for Zenyum vs other expensive brands.. after all its a life long investment, only cost is not what I am looking at when it comes to my body..

    3. Hi, I will try to share as much as I can. However, I've never tried other brands before so it's a little hard to compare too.

    4. Hi, I've never heard of clearsmile and thanks for sharing, always happy to learn new things. But not sure where you heard it from, cause Zenyum is 100% monitored by dentists/orthodontists too! They have an app for patients to privately chat with their dentists and send a photo of each new set so the dentist can see if the aligner still fits per planned. Also, there is a review at the dental clinic with your respective dentist every 2 to 3 months! I thought it was more convenient for me cause my schedule is usually packed and I only need to top up $300 for the retainers so it only adds up to $2,500. I will share more about the app in my next post! :)

  4. Hey there, what are your thoughts on zenyum thus far? Seen any changes in teeth alignment?

    1. Hi, yes, my teeth is slowly becoming straighter and the spaces between my teeth due to the IPR procedure (to make space for the shift to avoid extraction) are also closing up. I will be sharing more in my next update! :)

  5. hi there, so you do see some improvement after wearing the aligners? Can i say that its just slight discomfort whenever you put on the new sets? and it's not painful at all? So every time when you need to eat, or snack you will be required to remove first? thank you.

    1. Hi, it's yes to all your questions. My teeth have been shifting according to the treatment plan! It's not painful at all to me actually, it feels like someone is tugging your teeth a little? I was told to remove the aligners whenever I eat or drink (with the exception of cold or room temperature water) to avoid spoiling/staining them but sometimes I do eat sweets with them on hehe, just remember not to bite.

    2. Wow lucky you.. can you share this treatment plan? How does it look like?

They called me asking if I was a student before promptly hanging up.
    Thanks again!

  7. Hi Katelyn, any updates on the progress so far? Could you also share how long your treatment duration is - understand that it's typically between 3-9 months. Thanks! :) Looking forward to your next post on this.

    1. Hi Cari, my teeth has been shifting according to plan and my treatment is 11 months long. I will try to have the next post up soon! :)

      Delete
    2. Wow isn't 11 months for something you termed as "simple" too long?

      Delete
    3. Hi, I guess the duration can be a bit subjective? I felt that 11 months is ok cause I have two teeth that requires quite a bit of shifting. Also, I know of many other complicated cases which took 2 to 3 years to straighten (not on Zenyum though)!

    2. Nice! You started in December right, so about 4 months now, can you share your before/after- mid way through your treatment? Are you still happy with results? Does it irritate your gums?

      Delete
    3. Hi, yes I will be sharing updates along the way. I'm still happy with the results as my teeth is slowly becoming straighter. So far it only irritated my gums once, I'm not sure if it was due to the whitening strip I used, but let's not jinx it hehe.

  9. Hi Katelyn, are there extra charges for the IPR procedure? Or is it inclusive in the $2200 package?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, there are no extra charges. IPR is included in the package as it is a commonly used procedure in most aligner cases.

  13. Hi Katelyn,

I am considering to go for Zenyum as my two front tooth are a little big and it makes it look kinda rabbity. May I know if the before and after looks very different? Also, will they shave off parts of the teeth?if so... does it make the teeth look weird? Hope for a reply soon. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi, I think it would look less bucked when your teeth is straighten cause it pushes your teeth backwards. However, the size would be the same unless you shave it. I didn't shave my teeth by alot so they still looked similar to me and it might be better for you to seek a dentist's advice though.

  14. Thanks so much for the quick reply. :) much appreciated. Can I also check with you if your speech was much affected with the braces on? Would it be very obvious as in you sound different? Is the before and after going to transform a lot? I am sorry for the questions but this is like the only blog I can find in zenyum haha... how is your teeth now? Maybe you can do another write up of the progress? :) thanks a lot anyway. Your blog is very helpful

    1. Hi, I got used to the braces rather quickly and I don't think it affected my speech. By the end of the treatment, my teeth should be fully straightened. I will do another update in July as I plan to update once every two months. Glad the posts have been of help to you! :)

  15. Hi Katelyn, i have also a problem with my 2 front teeth. i am not so sure if it is called overbite but they look like a book about to fold :)) haha! kidding aside, i wanted to try zenyum but i am a bit skeptical. waiting for your july review and maybe can convince me to try it out too. :)

    1. Hello, thanks for following! I understand how many of you are skeptical, cause I was too (before I saw their case studies)! But... as Zenyum is not suitable for everyone (depends on your condition), I would recommend that you register your interest and send them photos of your teeth for a review first! So you won't waste time considering a treatment that might not be suitable.

    2. Hi pls let me know where the zenyum recommended clinics availability in SG. Thanks

      Delete
    3. Hi, they have partner clinics islandwide but I don't have a copy of the list. Usually they will share it with you when you are deemed suitable for the treatment.

  16. Hi Katelyn, Thank you for sharing your experience on your blog. Why you choose Zenyum over Invasalign? I am still very skeptical on during clear aligners on my front tooth and spaces or should go for fixed braces instead. If you don't mind please share your experience about the product. Appreciate.

    1. Hi, I chose Zenyum mainly because of price and I only wanted to straighten two teeth that bothers me. So far the product has been good, but if you are keen to do clear aligners, you must be remember to be diligent! Else it wouldn't be as effective and can cause delays to the treatment plan.

  17. can i ask if the promo is still available after a year

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, yes, the promo is still valid but Zenyum is now $2,400 (I think) instead of $2,200 due to GST.

      Delete
    2. Hi Katelyn, other then the $2,400 any other cost involve? What about the retainer?

  18. Hi Kate. Someone told me Zenyum will use their clients' pictures in their marketing which worries me due to privacy reasons.

At any point, did the dentist take pictures of your entire face and side? Or did they take pictures of just your teeth and mouth area?

I would prefer not having pictures of my full face taken (I'm too shy lol).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, I've never seen Zenyum post full face photos of their clients though. Companies in SG need to comply with PDPA too, so they have to seek customer's consent before using any of their photos, regardless full face or not. So I guess you need not worry about that!

For my pre-assessment photos, I cropped it for them, like how I did for my blog. As for photos taken by the dental nurses during my appointment, I think they only took close up shots of my teeth and mouth area. I did ask them what the photos were for and they shared that it's to monitor my progress.

      Hope that helps!

    2. Update: I checked with Zenyum and found out profile picture taking started after my batch. This was their reply: "The dentist now takes the profile pictures (front and side) of the patient in order to check their facial profile. This is extremely important to ensure that with the teeth movements and corrections, the patient's facial profile is maintained and other aligners/braces does this as well. The pictures taken at the clinic will only be used for treatment planning, and will not be used for any marketing reasons or activities. This is similar to the pre-assessment pictures, whereby we adhere strictly to PDPA regulations."

  19. Hi Katelyn, regarding the suitability that you have mentioned above, how do you know that you are suitable for both?

Am I allowed to let Zenyum to do an assessment before deciding if I want to choose Zenyum instead?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, for Invisalign you have to make an appointment and visit a certified dentist for them to determine if you are suitable for the treatment. That was what I did previously and I am not sure if they have other form of assessments.

For Zenyum, it's a lot more convenient cause you can simply submit your interest for pre-assessment via the link in my last paragraph and they will contact you for some photos of your teeth for professionals to determine your suitability.

  20. Hi Katelyn, you mentioned on the price which is $2400. who do you make this the payment to? As you also said there is an initial consultation which is $120-160, Im assuming this is paid to the clinic. What about the remaining? Hows the payment performed?
