[Show Review] Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live Experience

Tuesday 3 September 2019

Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live Experience, based on the award-winning BBC Television Series, is back in Singapore. Thanks to Sliding Doors Entertainment and UnUsUal Entertainment, the world tour which started in the UK in July 2018 is currently in Singapore for a stopover from now till 8 September 2019! My big boy (my hubby who is a fan of dinos) and I caught their opening show on last Thursday and saw how the 18-life size dinosaurs, 9 different species, came to life and took over the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Anyway, did you know that between 2000s to 2010s, scientists discovered fossils which hinted that all dinosaurs, including non-aviation ones, had feathers? This updated $20 million production uses the latest state of the art technology to showcase spectacular and colourful changes to the dinosaurs, based on the latest scientific research including the likely feathering of some species! The one-hour, 40-minute show depicts the dinosaurs’ evolution with almost cinematic realism.

We felt that the show was really educational and it is perfect for kids or anyone who wants to learn more about dinosaurs! You can learn about the characteristics of different species of dinosaurs, the different eras they lived in, interaction between dinosaurs, how the parent looks after their kid, the evolution of carnivorous dinosaurs walking on two legs, how herbivores fended off their more agile predator and even the contents in their poop! Hubby said that if we have a son, this is the kind of show he will bring him to so he can make the boy love and understand dinosaurs as much as he does. Throughout the show he was like an excited big kid telling me all the names of the dinos and different era before the narrator did!

The show includes the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the terror of the ancient terrain, as well as the Plateosaurus and Liliensternus from the Triassic period, the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus from the Jurassic period and Torosaurus and Utahraptor from the Cretaceous period. The largest of them, the Brachiosaurus, is 11 meters tall and 17 meters from nose to tail, it really wow-ed the audiences! Those who took the front seats had the opportunity to get up close with these dinos!

Before the show and during their 20 minutes intermission, fans can also get themselves a dino souvenir at the Walking with Dinosaurs merchandise store! We saw so many happy kids with their dino figurines!
