Skincare I Cannot Leave Home Without!

Sunday, 15 May 2016

I've been using IDS skincare for about or even more than 2 years now. I decided to do a post on my favorite IDS skincare products that I cannot leave home without since I brought them with me on my recent Japan+Korea trip! Also, this is actually a guest post at JYSK's blog. You can view the guest post over at their page too - #IDSSPOTLIGHT Katelyn Tan. p.s There's even one product that is always in my bag!

Photo taken at my guesthouse in Korea!

Above are the four items that I always bring with me when I travel and they are (left to right):
Lyco-White, S2 Sunscreen (Non-tinted), OM Oil-free Moisturizer and DD Diamond Dust Perfector

[Review] JYSK Skin Solutions Diamond Dust Perfector

Monday, 22 February 2016

I'm back with a product review and this time it's a product that I really love and have been using for months! It's IDS Diamond Dust Perfector (DD Cream), an exclusive product from JYSK Skin Solutions that works in seconds, instantly improves skin tone and reduces redness. It can be applied to the face, hands, neck or any external part of the body. [From JYSK Skin Solutions]

This DD cream is said to be able to minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, smoothen and mattify the skin and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hard to believe cause it sounds like a miracle product right? Trust me, I was a little skeptical too cause it sounded so miraculous but it is really true! And... there are a lot of "undeclared" benefits too. Continue reading the review to find out more! ;)

Katelyn's Skin Evolution with IDS Skincare #6

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

Back with another review post for IDS Skincare a.k.a JYSK Skin Solutions! Btw, I'm pretty sure most of you know by now that I started working this year. But what I haven't been updating is that I wear basic makeup to work everyday and I think it resulted in quite a few breakouts.

I try to visit IDS Clinic once a month for facials to clear up my pores and the photo above was taken right after one of the sessions during the period I was having a bad breakout. I have very sensitive skin so my face is always red after facial extractions.

The thing about breakouts is that facials help to reduce the chances of it happening and my IDS skincare products can clear my pimples quite quickly. On average, each pimple can heal in 2 to 3 days. But sometimes the pimples are just so stubborn, or maybe cause of my itchy fingers, they end up as hyper-pigmentations after they heal! :(

That brings us to the product I'm sharing with all of you today - AA, one of the newer products from from IDS Skincare!

[Review] IDS-Lyco White

Sunday, 17 May 2015

Hello! I'm back with a post for JYSK Skin Solutions! This time it's a product review and it's none other than their Lyco-White supplements!

As usual, here're some of the info of Lyco-White. Lyco-White is an Oral Skin Supplement with 4 main ingredients for different functions:

I am finally back with the product review post!

Above is my current skincare routine.
But I will be reviewing every single product that I've used before in this post!

Before I start, here is a short video review on some of the products I used in the past :)
I filmed that more than 3 months back when I first joined IDS clinic.
Just added the voice over recently :)
Hmm and maybe I will do a skincare regime video when I have the time?
I rarely do videos cause my house is noisy throughout the day lols.
All these voice overs are done past 12mn so sorry if I sound a lil tired :(

Back with another post for IDS Clinic!
Haven't visited them for 2 months cause school has been rather busy.
But... I have been diligently using their products okay!

♥♥♥

Photo at IDS clinic! I have countless photos of this wall already lols. Anyways, there's a reason why I could only take photo of this corner was cause... there are patients sitting on the other half of the sofa and also some at the dispensary and registration counter. Normally I will avoid taking photos when there are patients cause some might not like it? Also I will feel awkward lols. Oh and if you are wondering, my camera is always in my bag.

Katelyn's Skin Evolution with IDS Skincare #3

Thursday, 28 August 2014

Mentioned in my previous post that I visited IDS for a review and facial.
So here is a review of the facial and a new product! :)
P.S pardon the photos though all taken at a horrible angle with my eyes closed :/

♥♥♥

The facial treatment I had was:
Advanced Acne Treatment Plus
It is a 5 step treatment that helps treat and control acne! :)
My therapeutist that day was Ms Ambria Tee.

STEP ONE: Dermabrasion
Many other clinics/salons use crystal or diamond peel but at IDS Clinic they use Hydrafacial! What Hydrafacial does is it uses a high power water jet stream to do dermabrasion. This is actually much more comfortable and also less painful compared to crystal or diamond peel. On top of that,  the water solution used contains multi minerals!

STEP TWO: Comedones Removal
Here comedones that are rooted to the pores are firstly cleared using ultrasound. After that step is completed, there will be some minor extraction of the more stubborn ones.

P.S I'm sure you can spot more red spots on my face after this step. The extraction actually wasn't that painful lols. It's just that my skin is very sensitive and it turns red very quickly.

STEP THREE: Acne Light-based Treatment
Now for the main therapeutic treatment; a light based treatment with suction! What the light does is it kills the bacteria on your skin and hence controlling acne. I was told that the suction will bring he skin closer to the light so that results will be better ;) It's really unique cause I've had light treatments at other salons before but none had the suction. So what happen is that your skin will be lightly sucked by the machine then the light will be shone on your skin.  It's not super taut and not painful at all so don't worry.

STEP FOUR: Vitamin C Penetration
Time for some more pampering! Here the same ultrasound machine will be used to penetrate vitamins into the skin.

STEP FIVE: Mask
The whole treatment will be end after a cooling anti acne mask to ease off red marks. This is my favorite step and most of the time I will fall asleep haha. As you can see in the next photo, most of the red marks were gone!

Here's a photo after treatment! If you look at the photo collage earlier, you should be able to see that my skin got a lil red after the extractions. But the cooling mask managed to tone down all the redness! ♥ The whole treatment cleared all my clogged pores and made my skin super smooth too! I kept wanting to touch my face after that hahahas.

♥♥♥

Now for the next part of this review... a new product at IDS Clinic!
It's CLEAR 10, an improved version of their original CLEAR.
I ran out of the magic gel that they gave me and this was a replacement.
I believe that magic gel is in this too cause the texture is similar!
Initially CLEAR was rather sticky but this new version is not :)
The best part? It works as well as the magic gel! ♥

Here's a photo of CLEAR 10 and my receipt for the day!
As mentioned in the previous post, I'm currently a paying customer and no longer sponsored.
P.S I actually have two separate receipts, another for my top ups,
cause I only told that I wanted to top up some products after this receipt was generated.
I didn't take a photo of another receipt since I'm only gonna mention about CLEAR 10 in this post.

As the facial cleared all my clogged pores, I actually didn't need this product.
But thankfully for you all (not for me),
I had a breakout on my forehead after using a cosmetic product.
So I managed to take photos to show how well the CLEAR 10 worked!

TOP was taken BEFORE using.
BOTTOM was AFTER using for 5 days.
Something that I used on my face caused me to have a breakout (clogged pores) :/
It was especially bad on my forehead as shown in the photo above!
Thank god I had my CLEAR 10! It was actually cleared after day 5 of using :)
Godly right? Hurry and go to IDS to get yours hahas ;)

♥♥♥

That's all for this review!
Will see if I can find time to review the other products :)

Katelyn's Skin Evolution with IDS Skincare #2

Friday, 18 July 2014

Hello hello!
Okays I've been taking random photos of my skin and have been wanting to do an update.
But just couldn't find time to do a full post as the past few months were rather hectic.
Anyways... here is a skin update that you all have been asking for!
P.S Sorry for the delay!

I first went for consultation at IDS Clinic on 21st March and...
my last post for IDS Clinic was on 16th April with a 3 weeks comparison.
So it has been 3 months... *guilty*

Btw, if you are wondering if I will continue with my Skin Evolution posts, the answer is YES.
Reason being: I know a lot of you are would want me to (cause I've received comments and emails asking me for updates) and I want to keep track of my improvements too.

Next post should either be about their facial or a product review.
Product review cause I already had it filmed months ago hahas.
Facial review cause I really love it! My skin felt sooooo smooth after the facial!

♥♥♥

Skincare Routine
Within these 3 months, there has been some changes to my skincare routine.
P.S This is why it is necessary to go for skin reviews!

I started off with:

The current products I have:

If you follow my month in photos post, you would have known that on 7th May, I had an moisturizer and cleanser added to my routine. C2, T2, C+, PORE, CLEAR, OM, S2, SPOT. That's all the products shown in the photo above except for the mini pro bottle. Why I call it the magic bottle? You will find out later ;)

On 27th May, after I topped up my C+ and SPOT and also received that mini magic bottle. My routine was changed to C2, T2, magic gel, C+, OM, S2, SPOT. Had this change cause that "magic gel" product was their new product. I don't have the name for it hahas. But... I call it "magic gel" cause it really does wonders! I had a change in routine as my stubborn breakouts refused to go away :( But after using this for 10days, my breakouts were somewhat controlled and most of my acne were healed! There were still scars (of course) but at least the breakouts got controlled!

On 15th July, I went back for another review and another change to my routine. That's my current skincare routine. C2, T2, C+, CLEAR10, OM, S2, SPOT. I sort of ran out of that already and got prescribed CLEAR10. CLEAR and CLEAR10 are two different products. CLEAR10 is an upgraded version of CLEAR ;) Topped up my toner and sunscreen too (that's why the ones in the photo are new).

My current routine:
C2 Gentle Cleanser
T2 Oil Control Toner
C+ C-Plus
CLEAR10
OM Oil-free Moisturizer
S2 Sunscreen
SPOT Blemish Treatment

My current favorites are C+, OM, S2, CLEAR10 and SPOT! They are all non-greasy/sticky :) If I am home and my skin gets too oily, I will usually wash my face and reapply these products.

♥♥♥

Skin Update
Here's what some of you have been waiting for :)

Past (12th April) vs Current (14th July)

I guess you will think that the 12th April photo seems okay already right? Indeed it's much better as compared the skin to before going to IDS Clinic. But there were still new pimples popping up on my forehead, chin, and occasionally on my nose. Only the acne on my cheeks got a little more controlled. This was the reason why I had to go back to IDS Clinic for consultations. Each time Dr Tan will inspect my face, check what has been solved and what has yet been solved, and make changes to my skincare routine to target different problems!

After making a couple of changes to my skincare routine, as you can see in the photo taken on 14th July, the acne on my cheeks and forehead is rather controlled now. I still break out a little on my chin and nose area but less frequently. The scars on my skin is slowly fading but they are still there. Guess they will take quite abit for time to disappear :/ Of course it's still not perfect as the hyperpigmentation scars are all over my face. Also, I still do have new pimples popping out. But they are all more controlled now, less frequently as compared to the past, and less severe.

P.S Some of you might be wondering where are the hyperpigmentation marks. They are all over my cheeks, nose and chin area. They always appear washed out in photos, only the super darker ones appeared :/ Good for me I guess? Hahas. Anyways same camera used.

Current problems: Hyperpigmentation, occasional acne (but much lesser than before), large pores.
My current products are used to control my oily skin and occasional acne areas.
Will continue going back for reviews and stuffs to improve my skin condition!

Katelyn's Skin Evolution with IDS Skincare #1

Wednesday, 16 April 2014

Many of you have been asking me why I changed from DRx Clinic to IDS Clinic so here is the answer...

All of you should have found out that DRx clinic had a change of hands since I blogged about it in my IDS clinic opening blogpost. Strangely and sadly enough, DRx products stopped working for my skin at the start of year 2014. My skin started turning very dry and pimples were popping like nobody's business. The management finally arranged a consultation for me at DRx in February and prescribed me medicine however my skin condition never did become better :( I know some of you might think that I am typing this just cause I wanted to change clinic. But no, I got photo evidence of it!

My skin in Nov 2013 (#7) vs Feb 2014 (#9)
I didn't use photo from post #8 cause the photos weren't sharp enough.
My pimples were breaking out non-stop and they weren't healing fast enough.
And trust me, the breakout did not end here.

While I was emo-ing about my horrible skin condition, I received an invitation to IDS Clinic's official opening. Though I was not sponsored by IDS Clinic, I attended the opening to support Dr SK Tan! At the opening we were all given two products to try, C+ and S2 Sunscreen. I realized C+ made my skin smoother and S2 not only protected my skin from the sun but also helped controlled my oily skin (full review of IDS C+ and S2). I love their products to the extent that I was willing to pay to have my skin treated by IDS Clinic. I've mentioned many times that my friend's acne problem was treated by Dr SK Tan, so the more I wanted to give the IDS Clinic a try!

Luckily IDS clinic has lots of windows (and therefore, natural sunlight) around. With all the lightings around, my photos turned out to be somewhat decent =P

Photo above taken at the waiting area. Same as any other clinic, if you a new customer, you will have to fill up a form with your particulars. For IDS clinic, after the form is filled up, you will be brought to the photo room to have photos of your face taken using a machine. Dr SK Tan started doing this from the time he was with DRx hence Drx do take photos too. Btw, Photos are private and confidential. It's purely for the doctor's record, so that he can keep track of your skin condition. After the photos are taken, it's time to see the doctor! Dr Tan has this super professional glasses for him to look at our skin up close! He examined my skin and prescribed me a new set of products to save my skin! Lastly, you will be brought to another room where the nurse will teach you how to use the products ;)

Ta-dah! My new set of products! No cleanser yet cause the one that I need is not in yet at the time I was there, it should be in now though. So I have been living without an IDS cleanser but... their other products work so well even without a cleanser! Before and after photos at the end of this post ;) I bet the results would be even better with their cleanser in the regime.

Those who follow me on instagram should have seen this photo. Took it while doing a video for IDS clinic. It will be a video about IDS Skincare products. Will most likely have it up in my next post! So keep a look out for it k? :)

Those who read my IDS Opening blog post would know that I have been raving so much about their sunscreen! After using other products, there is another new love (still loving the sunscreen though). It's their SPOT treatment! Firstly, the packaging is so cute - a syringe. Secondly (and most importantly), my pimples flattened/shrank overnight! Even those huge ass ones got flattened in two days! Lastly, it is formulated with a BB cream-like base and helps conceal blemishes! Everyday I wake up thinking that I have awesome skin all thanks to this product hahahas. But seriously, it's really useful for me cause I always go out barefaced! Treat my pimples overnight plus able to conceal my blemishes in the day, of course it has to be my new favorite product right? =P

Here are the before (22nd March) and after (12th April) photos!
A 3 weeks comparison. Photos taken barefaced, do not even have any bit of skincare on.
Sorry my hair is in a mess lols. Taken in the morning after I washed up.
That's the only time I have no skincare products applied on my face!
Anyways as you can see, the pimples all got flattened. What's left are the marks :(
I still have new pimples popping out, but lesser than before!
Thank you IDS Clinic for saving my skin! ♥

[Review] IDS Skincare S2 Sunscreen and C-Plus

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

Here's a comparison between two of IDS and DRx clinic products.

P.S I’m already a convert for their sunscreen!
So let's start with the sunscreen ok?

♥♥♥

SUNSCREEN
IDS S2 vs DRx 5B

IDS S2
1. Non-greasy
2. Has oil control properties
3. Has a matte finish
4. Has anti-oxidant
5. Has Vitamin C
6. Settles on the skin very quickly

Now you understand why I love this product so much? For sunscreens, IDS has a definite win! It's the first sunscreen in Singapore that has Vitamin C and Anti-oxidants infused in it. The non-greasy, oil control and matter finish properties are a to die for (for people with oily skin like me)! This product has botanical extract from Swiss alps has inflammatory properties and also keeps the skin oil free. DRx's 5B is their least oily sunscreen and I feel that it is still quite greasy (I'm very picky about greasy products). On the first day I used IDS's sunscreen, I was like "OMG I LOVE IT!". It kept my face matte the whole day! IDS Sunscreen formulation is more liquid-ty compared to DRx's. But it gets absorbed by the skin really quickly, like almost instantly! I'm sorry but I stopped using DRx's sunscreen already :/

Okays I have to clarify that when I was using this sunscreen,
I am still taking my oil control pills from DRx. So I did a little test:

IDS Sunscreen + DRx medicine
Matte face for the whole day till like 10pm!

IDS Sunscreen only
Oily skin by 7pm (9hours)

DRx medicine only
Oily skin by 3pm (5 hours)

This is why I kept raving about IDS's sunscreen!
It's oil control properties even wins medication okay!

Above is the list of ingredients for your reference.

♥♥♥

VITAMIN C
IDS C-Plus vs DRx Max C

IDS C+
1. Absorbs slightly faster
2. My skin become slightly smoother
3. Uses the most potent form of Vitamin C
4. Contains a very powerful anti-oxidant
5. Anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties

Okays this product I personally can't tell a huge difference compared to DRx's. I'm not sure if it's cause I've only used it for a week. But I think my skin became slightly smoother when using IDS C+ as compared to when I was using DRx's Max C. I was told that IDS's C+ used an even higher and most potent form of vitamin c called trisodium ascorbic palmitate phosphate (APPS). It also has Fullerenes which is a super anti-oxidant that is very powerful. On top of that, it has anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties too!

Above is the list of ingredients for your reference.

♥♥♥

Those who follow my blog will realize that this is a repost.
Wanted to do a separate post for the product reviews cause the other post is too long.
So here it is! :) Hope it's useful to all of you!
