[Review] Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss

Thursday, 23 April 2015

Received three lovely glosses from Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss range for this review. Dany Sanz, MAKE UP FOR EVER Founder and Creative Director, was inspired by one of her favorite objects, a plexi glass makeup case. Together, Dany and the MAKE UP FOR EVER lab developed a new technology of pigments amplified with a high vinyl finish that would replicate the case's unique look and feel. [from press release]

[Review] Make Up Forever Holiday 2014 Travel Brush Set

Monday, 29 December 2014

Here's a short feature/review today! I've shared it on my instagram some time back so those who follow me would know. It's MUFE's limited edition Holiday 2014 Travel Brush Set! Not sure if they are still available in stores but if they are not, you can always get their usual brushes! I've actually reviewed these brushes before. You can find the post at Make Up For Ever Artisan Brushes.

[Review] Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow

Friday, 31 October 2014

Make Up For Ever launched a new series of Artist Shadow eyeshadows recently! Went to check out those eyeshadows at ION Sephora and they are all really pretty! P.S I only saw 24 out of the 210 shades at ION Sephora. If you are interested in checking out all 210 shades, you will have to visit MUFE Pro Loft! ;)

[Review] Make Up For Ever Artisan Brushes

Saturday, 23 August 2014

The brushes I am reviewing today are all hot favorites from Make Up For Ever's newest Artisan Brush line! These brushes are exclusively hand-made by highly qualified specialists and submitted to over 50 quality checks before hey are released to be sold internationally. Each brush is a unique creation and by combining significant features (fiber type + diameter + density + shape), it enables a multitude of combinations of tufts which allow specific, multiple and diverse make-up applications.

Tapered, trapeze, square, fan, flared, round, pointy and angled - the 75 brushes come in assorted shapes and sizes designed to allow for optimized control in applying, blending, sculpting, shading, and lining of make-up.

MUFE Artisan Brushes are:
✔︎ Customized creations by Dany - from the shape to position and even the color of brush bristles!
✔︎ 100% engineered fibers for skin comfort
✔︎ Ultra-Resistant & Humidity-Proof
✔︎ Environmentally Friendly with Eco-certified Wood
✔︎ Designed with a Unique bevelled tip that is designed to collect, mix and adjust make-up textures

♥♥♥

106 Medium Foundation Brush SGD65
This is a larger variation of a foundation brush for applying and blending ultrafast for an even result with fuller coverage. It can be used with all types of foundations and features straight fibers.

Unlike most flat foundation brushes in the market, this brush is so soft! Love soft brushes like this as they won't irritate the skin. This is my current go-to brush for liquid foundations :)

Recommended textures: Cream and liquid foundations, loose and compact powders.

♥♥♥

152 Medium Highlighter Brush SGD69
The shape and soft fibers of this supple, rounded brush make it an essential tool for adding delicate highlights to the face and body. It features wavy fibers, and is ideal for applying highlighting powders and creams for generous coverage.

This is definitely my favorite rounded brush now. It's very dense and gives a nice streak-free finish. It actually reminds me of Sigma's F82 Round Kabuki brush! I think both brushes are quite similar but this is soooo much softer and it has a unique end for bevelled brush handle tip. I don't normally use brushes for their intended purposes hence I actually used this as my compact foundation brush too! It helps give my skin a smooth and high coverage.

Recommended textures: Cream, gel, loose and compact powders.

♥♥♥

174 Small Concealer Brush SGD39
This straight, responsive brush applies and blends concealer over specific imperfections for a natural result. It can be used with creams and liquids.

This brush is a lil hard (all concealer brushes are hard) but very smooth. If you feel the individual bristles, you will be able to tell that this brush is made of many soft bristles! So when you use this brush on your face, it will not irritate it at all!

Recommended textures: Cream and liquid.

♥♥♥

274 Double Ended Eyebrow Brush SGD49
This practical, multiuse brush is the perfect tool for quick eyebrow grooming. Use the angled end of the brush to fill in and define brows, and the spiral end to groom brows and separate lashes. It features straight fibers, and can be used to apply eyebrow creams and pressed powders.

This is such a convenient multi-purpose brush! I can use the straight end to fill in my brows and the spiral end to brush and groom my brows! It's said that you can use the spiral end to separate lashes too. I think it's good that it is multi-purposed but if you use it to mascara coated lashes, I would suggest that you wash the brush after each use to prevent bacterial growth!

Recommended textures: Cream and compact powder.

♥♥♥

304 Lip Brush with Cap SGD45
This rounded, dense brush is ideal for quick lip color application and blending. Perfect for touch-ups throughout the day, this brush features straight fibers and comes with a metal cap to ensure practicality and hygiene.

This brush is so travel-friendly. The metal cap can be placed at the back of the brush so it gives you the full-size brush handle length. With the metal cap on, you won't have to worry about other stuffs contaminating the brush too!

Recommended textures: Lipstick and gloss.

♥♥♥

You might be thinking brushes are of no use and it's much more convenient to just use your finger but that's actually not true!

♥♥♥

So... hurry and get your brushes from Make Up For Ever!
Just treat it as an investment for a better makeup application and to save time and money ;)

[Review] Make Up For Ever #iLoveAQUAsg Waterproof Makeup

Thursday, 19 June 2014

I am back with another MUFE review post.
This time it's for their #iLoveAQUAsg collection!

#iLoveAQUAsg
A collection that highlights the love for color and conveys the passionate values of the brand
– free and easy applications, and limitless ways to play with make-up!

All the goodies I received :)
Aqua Lip // Aqua Rouge // Aqua Liner // Aqua Smoky Extravagant
Continue reading for the reviews and a look I created!

♥♥♥

Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip ($34 each)

Aqua Lip never needs touch ups and keeps its promise as a long-wearing formula. Waterproof with a high concentration of pigments, it offers ultimate coverage. It can be used alone for an intense and long-lasting matte aspect. Its supple, precise tip simplifies use - while its anti-oxidant properties protect the lips from everything... even kisses! This product is available in 5 new shades that gives you sherbet-tinted lips. #21C Cool Candy Pink, #22C Tender Pink, #23C Apricot Pink, #24C Vintage Coral, #25C Orange Red.

Formula Secret
• High concentration of pigments for intense coloration.
• Volatile oils for long-lasting waterproof staying power.
• Jojoba wax and vitamin E - a natural anti-oxidant - for unparalleled comfort and easy application.
• High-viscosity polymer oil and polybutene with its powerful adhesive properties enhance the Aqua Lip formula’s staying power.

I received 3 shades from them.
#22C Tender Pink, #23C Apricot Pink, #25C Orange Red

My Review
I love how the lip liners glide onto the lips smoothly. These lip liners leave a matte finish so do remember to apply a balm before use! They are really long lasting, I pored some oil on it and it won't budge too! I'm not so much of a apricot lip color person and my favorite has got to be shades 22C and 25C!

♥♥♥

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner ($40 each)
4 new diamond-shimmer colors.

The high stability of a waterproof and smudge-proof liner that gets up close and personal with the eyelids. A water-resistant formula contained in an aqueous gel texture that is fresh and easy to apply. This summer, 4 new diamond-shimmer colors are release. #2 Diamond Black, #17 Diamond Grey, #18 Diamond Blue, #19 Diamond Pearly Pink.

Formula Secret
• Acrylic filmogen polymers for long-lasting waterproof and transfer-proof holding power. The hydrophobic virtues of the formula repel water and “seal” the pigments onto the skin’s surface.
• A “color-seal” complex sets the pearlisers and pigments - while preserving all their brilliance - thanks to an association of polymers and essential fruit amino acids. Glycerides confer the textures with anti-drying properties that are gentle on the skin.

Received 3 aqua liners from them as well.
#17 Diamond Grey // #19 Diamond Pearly Pink // #18 Diamond Blue

My Review
These aqua liners are very water-resistant, water won't even stay on them and they won't budge after drying. It's really good that you can control it to be sheer or opaque. I believe you can even use it to layer over your eyeshadows for some color/diamonds! They glide on smoothly and you can control the thickness too! The aqua liners do dry a little taut but it's not really an issue with me. Also, these liners have micro glitters (diamonds) in them! Normally, I'm not a fan of glitter eye liners but I fell in love with the pink and blue one! It's a good thing that the glitters are micro ones and not chunky ones though ;)

I did a look with those simple look with the pink and blue eye liners ;) Find it at the end of this post.

♥♥♥

Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge ($41) &
Aqua Smoky Extravagant ($44)

Aqua Smoky Extravagant
Reaching even the finest lashes from root to tip, the coneshaped brush works wonders at lengthening and separating lashes with infinite precision. The non-sticky mascara texture glides over your lashes for zero-clump perfection, offering protection, lash extensibility and flexibility - which is what every woman needs for an everyday mascara!

Formula Secret
• Abyssinian Oil blended with iron oxide minerals creates an intense and brilliant black hue.
• Red Seaweed extracts offer protection, flexibility and lash extensibility.
• A complex of wax and humidifying agents provides great comfort and sheathing power to lashes.
• The association of polymers and a synthetic thermoplastic resin helps to improve water resistance.

Design
Its voluptuous shape makes for easy handling. The thick elastomer fibres of the brush are twisted so you can stretch the lashes while separating them from root to tip - for that special volumizing and lengthening effect.

Light Rosewood Aqua Rouge
Remember the Limited Edition Aqua Rouge in MUFE Holiday 2013 collection? The color was so well-received, we have included it into our permanent range now! High in pigment concentration, Aqua Rouge ensures amazing coverage and is super water-resistant. Easy to apply with a professional stroke, it comes with two different applicators for exceptional velvety shine.

Formula Secret
• Promises long-lasting waterproof hold thanks to volatile oils and elastomer polymers that contribute to the excellent fixation and staying powers.
• Mica mineral powder enhances ease of use by optimizing a smooth application and by intensifying the colors.
• The gelling agents guarantee the velvety texture and touch that go with Aqua Rouge comfort.

I've reviewed the ones in MUFE Holiday 2013 collection here: MUFE Holiday'13 Review
The aqua rouge is supposed to be exactly the same.
The mascara is an improved waterproof formula!

My Review
The new aqua rouge is supposedly exactly the same but I feel there's a slight difference. The new aqua rouge in light rosewood seems a lil darker, more pink tone, and more saturated in color. I actually prefer the new one to the one from the holiday collection. I love pink lippies, the pink-er the better! =P

For the aqua smoky extravagant, the brush is basically the same the only difference is that this is waterproof! Of course waterproof one would be better! ;)

♥♥♥

Tested all of them under running water, rubbed them and they don't budge at all!
Tested to be 100% waterproof!
I think I read it somewhere that this aqua series was actually formulated for the france water team!
So it definitely has to be waterproof else you will see horrible swimmers in the water :/

♥♥♥

Here's a look that I put together with a couple of the products!
I did my face base and brows as per normal.
Here's how I do my face base and brows: MUFE full face tutorial
Only difference was my eyes and lips.

For the EYES,
1. Tight line your eyes with a Aqua Eyes Eyeliner (a kohl black eyeliner),
on both top and bottom lash line
I didn't like the bottom fully as that would make my eyes look a lot smaller.

2. Draw a thin line with a black liquid eyeliner
It doesn't matter if it isn't smooth as we will be adding another color above it.

3. Using #18 Diamond Blue Aqua Liner, draw a line above the black liner
You should be able to see a thin black line and a thicker blue line.
Thickness of the blue eye liner is up to you ;)

4. Apply #19 Diamond Pearly Pink Aqua Liner on the bottom of your eyes
Apply it lightly so it looks more transparent, like a natural glow.

5. Curl and apply Aqua Smoky Extravagant on lashes

And you are done with your eyes!
You can still apply eyeshadows if you want but I choose to keep it simple as there's already blue in it!

For the LIPS,
1. Apply lip balm on your lips
This is important as waterproof lip products can be drying.

2. Line your lips using #22C Tender Pink Aqua Lip and fill it in

3. Fill your lips with Light Rosewood Aqua Rouge
It's optional if you want to apply the gloss.
I applied very little so it's still a semi matte finish.

4. Apply Rouge Artist Lip Palette 06 Coral (red) on the middle of the lips
and spread them outwards
This will give you blended soft gradient lips.

And you are done with your lips!

That's all for this review! :)

This summer, MUFE AQUA star line is enriched with a total of 12 new arrivals!
Aqua Smoky Extravagant ($44),
5 shades of Aqua Liners ($40 each),
4 shades of Aqua Lip ($34 each),

[Review] Make Up For Ever HD Second Skin Cream Blush

Monday, 12 May 2014

All of you know that Make Up For Ever is one my favorite brands. Today, I'm gonna share with you a review on their latest product - MUFE HD Second Skin Cream Blush. These Cream Blushes were launched about a month plus back. I've been using these blushes but didn't have the time to review them cause I was busy with school. Been using them for close to 2 months and am definitely loving them. You won't want to miss this review as it's really good! ;)

These blushes have a texture-free second-skin finish which brings flattering freshness and at the same time controlled shine to the apples of the cheeks, producing a stunningly natural finish. MUFE HD Second Skin Cream Blush is available in a wide range of 16 shades!

The HD Cream Blush is extremely easy to blend and offers modular coverage. Feel that the glow on your cheeks is starting to fade? This on-the-go compact comes with a large mirror to give the skin a flush of colour any time of day!

Swatches:
From left to right:
#220 PINK SAND
#225 PEACHY PINK
#315 PEACH BEIGE
#410 CORAL
#420 INDIAN ROSEWOOD

My Review:
My favorite shades are definitely #220 and #225! I'm actually not a person who wears blush often as I don't like how some blushes look really unnatural. But... I really fell in love with these blushes ever since I started using them. They go onto the skin really smoothly. It's so smooth it totally looks like a second skin as you won't be able to tell that something was actually applied! (See the blended swatch above)

MUFE is known for having really pigmented and awesome HD products. These HD blushes definitely meet the expectations too! (See swatches above - those swatch were made with a single swipe) I know how some might be worried that if it's so pigmented, won't it look too strong on the cheeks right? Thing is, these blushes just blend out so well and looks natural though they are highly pigmented. Being highly pigmented just means that you don't need to use a lot product.

What I like to do is to:
1. Lightly rub the cream blush to transfer pigments onto my finger, (you can use a brush too)
2. Dap 5 dots of it on my cheeks, 3 above and 2 below, then
3. Blend it out!

Even if you rub the cream blush with a lot of strength (which I don't see why you will) and a lot are transferred to your finger, it still will not appear overly strong on your cheeks. All you have to do is to just dap 5 dots on your cheeks, clean off the excess on your finger, and proceed to blend out them out on your cheeks. So there's no way it will look too strong and unnatural on your cheeks. You will still achieve the natural look. Just don't dap too much on your cheeks and it will be good :) Also, they are completely buildable. So if you find it too light, just dap on another layer.

Looks:
Here are photos of me with #225 and #220 on my cheeks. I have oily skin but these blushes lasted rather well too. Wore it out on several occasions and didn't have to touch up :)

I received the new HD Pressed Powder too. It's the same formulation as their HD Microfinish Powder, just that this comes in compact form so it's a lot more convenient if you want to want to bring it out for touch ups! Will be reviewing it on a separate post.

For those who want to get the HD Second Skin Cream Blush,
they are available at SGD50 each :)
You can get them from the following stores:
Sephora ION Orchard
Sephora Ngee Ann City
Sephora Marina Bay Sands
Sephora Great World City
Sephora VivoCity

Make Up For Ever - Make Up School @ Ngee Ann City + Tutorial

Thursday, 20 March 2014

I'm back with another post!
Here's one for Make Up For Ever.
P.S Their makeup products took the place of my past go-to-products!
My current go-to-products are mostly from Make Up For Ever.
Continue reading to know why ;)

Note: Those text with hyperlinks are links to reviews I did in the past.

♥♥♥

Let's start with my make up lesson at Make Up For Ever's MAKE UP SCHOOL!
I went to the outlet at Ngee Ann City for a one hour lesson on basic/everyday look makeup.

Make Up For Ever has their own separate area at Ngee Ann City Sephora.

Lesson/makeover area.

All the cleaning stuffs for you to remove whatever dirt/makeup you have on your face.
Also, there are disposable sponges and even mascara applicator!
So you don't have to worry that you have to use what others used before. Hygienic right?

A make up profile for you to record the steps that you did and products used.

I didn't write anything on the booklet myself cause Amber help me do all of those!
She helped me fill up some stuffs after each part. Eg. Face, Eye, Lips. So sweet of her right?
P.S Amber is one of MUFE's Make Up Artiste.

Now I will list all the products I used on my face that day!
In-between I will also slot in a couple of reviews :)
And I will have a tutorial at the end (using most of these products).

First Photo: All the basics for a flawless skin!
Left to Right:
1. HD Elixir (to hydrate your skin)
2. All Mat Primer (matifying base)
3. HD Primer (green to color correct skin redness)
4. HD Foundation
5. HD Invisible Cover Concealor
6. HD Microfinish Powder

Second Photo: Contouring!
Right side Top to Bottom:
1. Powder Blush
2. Contour Kit

Your make up artiste will help you choose your shades and products suited for your skin.
Then you will be taught how to make use of these products to achieve flawless smooth skin!
Eg. when concealing, dap the concealor directly on problem areas then spread out the corners.
Here you will also learn how to use coutour powder and blush to make your face look slimmer!

[Review: HD Primer in Green]

The green primer may look a lil scary but...
it's actually just a light hint of green to cancel out the redness on the skin!

[Review: HD Invisible Concealor]

Got to try a new concealor and I would say this has a medium coverage.
If I have really huge pimples, this won't be able to cover them.
This is where I will recommend MUFE Full Cover Concealor! My fav!
But still I love how this concealor is light weight and almost "invisible" looking.

[Review: HD Foundation]

Love how light weight this foundation is.
It give medium to full coverage and is buildable :)
They have lots of shades available. You are bound to find you exact match!

[Review: HD Microfinish Powder]

Love how MUFE packaged their powder.
It has this soft sifter so you won't have to pour out the powder and make a mess out of it ;)
I know some of you ladies are worried if it will leave a white cast.
The thing is... don't apply too much. Just a think layer will do.
I used this many times and even took photos under flash and yupps no white cast :)
This product is light, mattifies and leaves the skin smooth.

For natural looking eyes!
1. Eyeshadow
2. Eye Brow Pencil
3. Aqua Eyes Eyeliner

P.S I realized I forgot to take photo of most of the eye products used.
Anyways, I'm using similar shades of eyeshadows in the tutorial later.
Here I was taught how to create a natural everyday eye look.

[Review: Aqua Eyes Eyeliner]
I can use it to draw thin/thick lines.
P.S I didn't sharpen the eyeliner before drawing the thin line.
Rubbed my wrist till it turned red and it only faded a lil, no smudges at all!
Washed it under water and it was still intact too, no smudges :)

Pretty pink lips!
Left to Right:
1. Lip Gloss
2. Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick
3. Aqua Lip Water Proof Lipliner

A photo with Amber!
Amber did the left side of my face for me while I did the right.
That's how you slowly learn step by step ;)
Thank you Amber for teaching me new make up tips!

Above is the brochure for MUFE's MAKE UP SCHOOL!
The one which I attended is the 75mins complete make up lesson.

♥♥♥

Now time for a Make Up Tutorial!

All the products used for this tutorial!
Most of which are my current go to makeup products.

I will be listing the products used in each step.
Will also do a couple of reviews along the way :)

Step 1: Prime the face + Conceal blemishes
Products used: HD Primer in Green + HD Invisible concealor

Step 2: Apply foundation on the whole face
(I like to apply excess foundation on my lips so it acts as a lip concealor too)
Product used: HD Foundation

Step 3: Contour and highlight the nose
You can also use it to contour your forehead and jawline for a looking slimmer face!
Product used: Contour Kit

P.S I didn't use any blush here. Will have a separate post for the blush! ;)

I don't have MUFE's brow pencil with me.
Did my brow using the method Amber taught me :)
Line 1 is where the brow should start.
Line 3 is where the brow should end.
Line 2 is where the curve should be.

Step 1: Fill the whole lid "Metallic Taupe" eyeshadow

Step 2: Use "Espresso" eyeshadow on the outer 1/3 of the eye
(I applied the same eyeshadow near the lash line too)

Step 3: Apply on the "Gold Pink" eyeshadow below the
lower lash linefor a aegyo sal effect

Step 4: Draw a thin line near the upper lash line
Product used: Aqua Eyes Eyeliner

Step 5: Line the lower waterline
Product used: Aqua Eyes Eyeliner

Step 6: Apply mascara on both upper and lower lashes

Step 1: Conceal your lips
(Optional: line your lips using a lip pencil)

Step 2: Apply a light pink shade (N21 Natural) on the lips

Step 3: Apply a dark pink shade (37 Intense) to the center of
the lips, for a smooth gradient effect use your fingers to blend

This is the swatches for the lip palette I used - Rouge Artist Lip Palette in Warm Pink Shades.
You can find my review here: Route Artist Lip Palette by MUFE
